About us

The Department of Physics was established in 1957. The department offers Undergraduate Programme in Physics and strives hard to develop an independent thinking to achieve the Department’s goal and to provide education for the rural students of the Nilgiris. M.Sc. Physics was introduced in the academic year 1983-84 to encourage the development of students in the area of Advanced Physics and to provide educational, research and intellectual service to the student community who wish to excel of physics. Equipped with the wellqualified and experienced faculty members in research , the department has introduced research programmes , M.Phil. and Ph.D., in the academic year 2012-2013. It excels in consistently producing quality professionals in the field of Physics and strives for excellence in R & D. The Department not only enables the students to explore fundamental Physics but also promotes applied and interdisciplinary research.
